The Principal, Jo Addison
Jo has 15 years’ experience in education including managing Residential accommodation at Lincoln University and CLV. She enjoys working with young people and the challenges that brings. She is very passionate about the role. Jo is married, and in her spare time loves to cook (and eat), travel, windsurf and ski.
Head Chef, Scott Townsend
Scott is our Head Chef and leads the kitchen team at Bishop Julius Hall kitchen to produce hearty and nutritional food with a simplistic and fresh approach “My take on food is that it is a social and happy time that brings people together and should be an experience, no matter the occasion.” Scott has worked in some of the UK’s top kitchens and restaurants including Michelin regime restaurants and hotels. Scott originally from UK moved to New Zealand 9 years ago and worked in some of New Zealand’s finest establishments such as The George and Botswana Butchery.
Head of Household and the House Mums, Margaret Gainsford
Margaret heads up the household staff who clean, scrub and wash, issue fresh linen in the four residential buildings and keep their “eyes and ears” out for any issues relating to students, maintenance and guests. Margaret has worked at BJH for 15 years and helps promote the home away from home ethos we have at BJH. She also hosts international students in her own home.
Maintenance, Karl Krauze
Karl is our caretaker, handyman, gardener and “general fixit man" who is responsible for keeping the services running and the grounds looking beautiful. He ensures all repairs and maintenance are carried out in conjunction with Michael and Nigel.
